What does flattening a PDF do?

Flattening converts interactive form fields (text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns) and annotations into static, non-editable content embedded in the page.

Is this processed in my browser?

Yes. Your PDF never leaves your device. All flattening happens locally using pdf-lib.

Will flattening remove my form data?

No. The filled-in values are preserved — they just become uneditable static text.

Can I undo flattening?

No. Flattening is permanent. Keep a backup of the original if you might need the interactive version later.
